ELIX Polymers focusing strongly on Circular Economy and more sustainable products
ELIX Polymers offers high-end sustainable solutions to its customers, promoting the transformation of the styrenics value chain towards a circular economy model, according to CEO David Castañeda. The company is developing up-cycling solutions, preserving functionality in the final customer applications thanks to close cooperation with its key customers and understanding the requirements of each market segment.
On the one hand, partnerships with raw material suppliers have been established and the aim is to integrate more and more renewable raw materials, high-quality mechanical-recycled ABS and monomers from chemical recycling to ELIX products, in order to improve the ecological footprint and help to participate in setting new standards for the plastics industry. It also participates in several important industry initiatives, such as Plast2bCleaned and Styrenics Circular Solutions.
On the other hand, ELIX has presented its circular economy approach to several customers, adapting its strategy to the specific customer needs of each market segment. For this purpose, it has been necessary to involve raw material suppliers, recycler manufacturers and other relevant partners to create a collaborative ecosystem. "The solution we offer our customers must fulfil what they expect from a prime ABS manufacturer in order to continue preserving functionality in final customer applications", explains Toni Prunera, Head of Business Development and R&D/IP.
Finally, ELIX Polymers is integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) into its corporate strategy. Since ELIX has been very active in this field since many years, it was awarded the EcoVadis gold medal for the fourth year running.
